Recipes are included.  You can make donuts that are nearly fat free.  Both the recipes and our mixes are low fat.

 It’s nice to know how baked donuts work.  Nearly all donuts are fried.  Deep fat frying makes the outer layer crispy and gives us the texture that we love in donuts.  It also adds fat.   Baked donuts rely on low fat batter to create crispy donuts—fat rich batters will not create crispy donuts.  The heat of the oven and a dark pan that absorbs heat tend to make the outer layer of the donuts crispy.

While baked donuts will never be as crispy as deep fried, they are still delightful—with much less fat.  And you don’t have to break out the deep fryer and buy a gallon of oil. 

Notes from the kitchen:

We tested this pan extensively in our test kitchen and were very pleased with it.  It baked evenly and made great donuts. 

We made donuts using all of the mixes we sell.  We served them to people in our store and they loved them.  The favorites were the maple nut and the coconut crunch.

Both the mixes and the recipes make twelve donuts.  If you are going to make donuts often, we recommend two pans.  It’s easier to divide the batter evenly between twelve donuts when you are using two pans. 

Occasionally, you will have donuts stick in the pan especially if you let them cool completely.  We recommend a soft, thin-bladed silicone spatula.  It will ease around the curves of the pan without scratching and pop your donuts out.
