Botanist Albero Bench

Description

The Botanist Albero Bench was designed by Joseph Ricchio in 2008. The concept is Joseph Ricchio's expression of the beauty of life. The Albero Bench is formed from a quarter-inch aluminum alloy sheet, making it durable yet lighter than you might expect. The Albero Bench is then finished with a powder coating that is solvent-free and comprised of various synthetic resins, pigments and special additives for a high quality surface finish. These economic and ecological powder coatings represent the future of paint technology. The powder coatings are UV and weather resistant intended to be used outdoors. These benches are corrosion resistant so they are welcome in a damp environment and look great in a garden or around the pool.

Designer

Joseph Ricchio was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1955. Since 1980 he has lived in Seal Beach, California and founded Ricchio Design in 1982 as a design consultancy working in a variety of disciplines. Over the years Ricchio Design has done a multitude of projects in product design, furniture design and graphic design. Projects range from strategic product planning for Xerox Corporation to collateral pieces for Team Disney.

Design Benefits

A percentage of the sale of the Albero line goes to the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, one of the country's largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk. Joseph Ricchio has been donating to them for many years for a variety of reasons: 1 ) Larry Pond was the Director of Design at Stendig and introduced his first chair, he began DIFFA and has since died of AIDS, 2 ) Joseph Ricchio has a family member that is HIV positive and 3 ) Joseph Ricchio believes it is simply a good choice.
