Uwharrie (you-WAH-ree) Chair Company creates small-scaled luxury furniture destined to become cherished family heirlooms. Each piece is lovingly hand crafted using pressure treated, double kiln-dried southern yellow pine. Each new piece is unique and made by hand and will remain structurally sound for years to come. Uwharrie is a green company that uses reclaimed, plantation grown pine that is built, painted and cleaned with non-toxic materials.
Southern yellow pine is known for its resistance to insects, rotting and decay. It has the ability to withstand extreme weather changes, salt water and year round use. The wood actually breathes and may expand and shrink slightly depending on the time of year. Within initial months of purchase, depending on the finish, you may see some additional loss of paint and surface cracking. Exposed wood will eventually turn dark and may slightly warp from time to time. This is normal and part of the charm. Each eclectic collection has its own unique personality that is suitable for any home design.
