"Forbidden City Lions"

 This exquisite pair of Chinese bronze foo dogs are cast after those guarding the gates of Yangxin Hall in the Forbidden City.  They have exceptional detail and show great artistry.  As tradition dictates, the male lion (on left in photo) stands with his paw atop the pearl of wisdom and the female stands with her paw resting on a lion cub.  Both lions have fierce expressions and are seated atop a rectangular stylized lotus base.  Please click on the thumbnail images above to see additional views. We have cast these Forbidden City Lions in our own California art foundry using 120 lbs.
