Retro Pedal Cars was created by Dave Bechtlofft in 2004. The company specializes in children's ride-on toys. In addition to pedal cars and ride-on toys, they also sell children and adult dress up gear, which are costumes that allow children to use their imagination dressing up as their favorite professional, such as a doctor, race car driver or astronaut.
In 2003, Dave involuntarily left his Software Testing job at a Telecommunications company. It was at that time that his first baby was about to be born, and he made a decision not to go back to the corporate world for a while and stay home. After exploring several business options, he chose to sell pedal cars, which he is able to run out of his home because 95% of his sales are drop shipped.
"During this time, sales have increased every year and I have been lucky enough to land several large corporate orders," said Dave. "I have been pondering a second site now for quite some time. But with baby #2 on the way, it might be time to go back to Computer Engineering."
