This greenstone jewelry pendant is hand-carved in New Zealand from a unique type of Jade that is darker and has (so it is claimed) more 'soul' than the more easily obtainable Chinese jade.

Greenstone is a Nephrite Jade that is hewn from the rugged mountains on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, way down-under on the edge of the tempestuous Tasman Sea in the untamed Southern Oceans.

Held by many to have mystical properties, pounamu (po-naam-ooo) greenstone is highly valued by New Zealand's indigenous Maori people.

Greenstone jade has a light and a lustre all of its own.

Each greenstone jade pendant is hung on a plaited, waxed cord that has a tiny greenstone toggle at one end.
