2011 Silver Eagle San Francisco Mint - MS70 NGC

American silver eagles are the most popular silver bullion and collectible coins in the world. In order to keep up with the record high demand for these coins the U.S. Mint has began striking coins at their San Francisco mint facility in June 2011. This is the first time in more than a decade that silver eagles have been struck at San Francisco. Because these coins do not have a mint mark that distinguishes if they were struck at the WestPoint mint or the San Francisco mint people are turning to certified coins as a means of guaranteeing that the coin was struck at San Francisco. In 2011 around 40 million coins will be produced at WestPoint while only around 4 million coins will be struck at San Francisco. NGC and ANACS, two of the leading coin grading services have created special holders with special graphics identifying these coins as San Francisco strike.
