Details
2011 Silver Eagle San Francisco Mint American silver eagles were struck concurrently at the WestPoint mint and San Francisco mint from 1989 to 2000. Production of bullion strike silver eagles was moved to WestPoint exclusively in 2001. Because of the record high demand for silver eagle coins the U.S. Mint is striking coins at San Francisco for the first time in more than a decade. Only a tiny fraction, about 4 million coins, will be produced at San Francisco versus over 40 million at WestPoint. Although there is no mintmark identifying where the coins were struck the original mint packaging identifies the mint or origin. The normal return privilege that applies to collector coins on this sight does not apply to purchases of silver bullion bars, coins, ingots, rounds and wafers.
