10 Different Proof Roosevelt Dimes

The first Roosevelt Dime was minted in 1946 as a tribute to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. died in office the previous year. was instrumental in establishing the March of Dimes to help find a cure for polio (a disease from which he suffered). served four terms as President (1933-1945) the only President to serve more than two terms.As President, he guided the through the Great Depression and World War II.The coin was designed by John R. Sinnock.One side shows a portrait of ; the other side features a flaming torch (a symbol of liberty and freedom).In addition to the regular coins for circulation, the U.S. Mint also made a small number of Proof coins.This set includes 10 Proof Roosevelt Dimes with different dates.  Proofs are the highest quality coins.Each coin is struck multiple times under high pressure to bring out the three-dimensional designs and mirror-like background.Due to the painstaking minting process, Proofs are limited editions.These coins are never seen in circulation because they were made exclusively for collectors in limited editions.Proof coins are not available individually from the Mint but are sold only in official U.S. Proof Sets.Prior to 1968, the Proof coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint and have no mint mark.Since 1968, the Proof coins have been struck at the San Francisco Mint and bear the coveted S mint mark.There are 10 coins;  they were struck in .750 copper and .250 nickel bonded to an inner core of pure copper.  Dates are random. The set comes in a custom display wallet with a Certificate of Authenticity.
