Like K2's new neighborhood, the new K2 SODO Alpine Touring Skis (SOuth of the King DOme) is edge, aggressive, and street savvy. The heaviest and stiffest ski of the line, it has the brawn to straight-line that chute you've been eyeing just out of bounds, or blast through cut-up crud at the resort. Twin tips allow you to ride switch or throw a discouraging smokescreen when racing for first tracks, and a notched tail keeps skins in place when all your inbounds stashes are tracked out. Welcome to the hood. Specs:Dimensions: 128/95/118Weight: 9.4 lbs/pair (179cm)Backcountry Magazine:"K2 touts the new Sodo as a crud-busting, straightlining, switch-skiing badass. Our testers found the Sodo only so-so. 'It's a soft ski that's easy to roll up on edge, but gravitates towards moderate terrain,' one female tester said. Another added: 'Easy to turn, it danced through the trees and in and out of the bumps with ease.' With high scores in turn initiation, and at moderate speeds, the Sodo was a laid-back ride, that wasn't shaken by changing conditions. 'Wasn't bothered by curd, ruts, or animals on the trail; absorbs every bump in the road,' said a Vermont patroller. But a Western ripper chimed in: 'A little too soft for crust and icy snow.' A skin-friendly notched twin-tip keeps backcountry utility high for a twin tip, and all-mountain dimensions keep the Sodo grounded through mixed conditions. 'Damp, damp, damp! Like the K2's of old,' said one veteran ski tester."
