The Opti-Logic Model LH Laser Hypsometer Rangefinder height measurement system combines a pulsed laser rangefinder and a vertical angle sensor in a low-cost, lightweight, easy-to-use package. The hand-held laser rangefinder is capable of measuring distances to non-cooperative targets up to 800 yards away, depending on target size and reflectivity.Incorporating an internal electronic tilt sensor, the Laser Hypsometer makes vertical angle measurements with better than 0.5 degree resolution to remotely determine heights of trees and other objects.Operating the Opti-Logic Laser Hypsometer is simple: First, the instrument is aimed at any reference point on the object to be measured and triggered. This action measures the distance from the origin, O (the instrument location), to the reference point, A. Next the instrument is aimed at the top of the object, B, and triggered, then aimed and triggered at the base of the object, C. Using the total subtended angle between B and C, in addition to the distance to the object, the instrument automatically calculates and displays the height from points B to C.Four separate modes determine distances, heights and angles. With the push of a button, the unit configures itself to measure in feet, yards or meters.Applications of vertical height measuring include tree height, construction height, utility pole heights, architectural measurements, landscaping, real estate appraisal, and many more. The system is ideal for applications which do not require survey precision measurements and where high instrument cost is unjustified.
