Keep your youth group sessions focused on the Sunday liturgy. This book provides an activity for each Sunday - October through April - based on the Gospel theme of that Sunday. Activities include guided meditation, icebreakers, improv, and faith sharing.
How To Use Gospel Alive!The 28 lesson plans in this book follow the weekly Sunday gospel and include an enormous varietyof activities to use with your group. Each lessons starts with an Introduction that illustratesthe tie between the Sunday gospel and the activity. Of course, reading the entire week's activityand completing the instructions in the Preparation section should be done before class. Beginwith the Activity section, the main focus, or with the gospel reading, the backbone. Participate ina Closing Prayer Experience which reinforces the lessons of the gospel and activity. You can leador ask participants to help--it's great experience and the lesson outlines are very selfexplanatory.Tailor the weekly activities to meet your group's needs. Split a large group into smaller groups orpair students up if necessary. Pick your favorite parts of the lesson to do in class if you are shorton time, even if that means only the first half of the activity or only the closing prayer experience.Spend more time on individual reflection and group discussion if class too quickly ends.Add more discussion questions, props, prompts, or explanation as you like. Omit whatever youthink does not jibe with your group. This book was designed with flexibility in mind--use and alter to what your group needs most!
