vitreous glass mosaic tilesVitreous glass mosaic tiles sold in loose bags of approximately 150 tiles. Each mosaic tile is 3/4" x 3/4" and over 1/8" thick. The dimensions are the industry standard for vitreous glass mosaic tiles, which means you should be able to use these with vitreous tiles from other manufacturers. The backs of these mosaic tiles are embossed with ridges to help glue bond more securely. The most economical of all glass mosaic tile, vitreous is extremely popular with amateur crafters, yet it is often used by professional mosaic artists for large installations in buildings. A full pallet of colors is available, allowing the artist to create strikingly beautiful mosaics. Vitreous glass mosaic tiles are molded glass and made to be cut by nipping with hand tools. They can be cut with the regular ceramic Tile Nipper sold in our mosaic tools section, but our Mosaic Glass Cutter is the preferred tool for working with glass. The Tile Nipper tends to crush certain types of glass, while the Mosaic Glass Cutter gives cleaner, more precise cuts in virtually all types of glass mosaic tile, including vitreous. For advice on how to cut, glue and grout mosaic tiles, please see our Mosaic FAQ page or our page of Mosaic instructions. 218 loose tiles will cover 1 square foot with a grout spacing of about 1/16 inch between the tiles. Please see our Tile Calculator page for information about round tables, estimating large jobs and odd shapes.
